“The
art of narrating is a very different story, and you should be a proficient
narrator to get a better producer” says director Lijo Jose Pellissery in
conversation with H. Shaji, Deputy Director of The Kerala State Chalachitra Academy
held at Nila theatre. Due to the technological advancements expressing oneself
is not as hard as it was in the past.
“Art
in my sense of vision may not be an art for you” added Lijo. He is comfortable
making films that he is convinced in. And his films underline this certitude
through his non-linear narrative style. Gaining inspiration must not pave the
way for plagiarism. And he also added that if he were to have three failures he
would also most definitely come back to stardom with three blockbusters. He
didn’t forget to give special mention to his friend and music director,
Prashanth Pillai who is responsible for creating the background score for most
of his movies.
‘Angamaly
Diaries’ a black comedy with 86 debutant actors, created an uproar in many
young minds who voiced their opinions and queries at the interactive session.
Films like this and ‘Amen’ have encouraged his courage to create experimental
films. Film is always the sole art of a director. He added that production of a
film is vested on the perception of director alone.
